Peter Ing

A native of Toronto, Peter currently resides in Richmond B.C. Having an active performing career, he is the violist and founding member of the Rose Gellert String Quartet, the ensemble-in-residence of the Langley Community Music School (LCMS). Peter has performed with groups such as with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony and Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra.

A faculty member of LCMS, Peter balances his performance schedule with a full private studio and community work. He is actively doing outreach projects such as bringing low-cost music programs to inner-city schools. Peter’s pedagogical belief is to nurture young hearts to love music. Through music, they can find a channel to contribute positively and meaningfully to the community.

Peter holds a master’s degree in Viola Performance from the University of British Columbia and is a registered Suzuki Violin/Viola Instructor with the Suzuki Association of Americas. His experience extends to teaching students from the age of 3 years old to adults. His studio achievements range from being award winners at various music festivals to being recipients of the Gold Medal Award from Royal Conservatory of Music for achieving the highest examination mark. Many of his students are members of the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra and Surrey Youth Orchestra, both organizations of where Peter coaches.
